Prof. Dr. Md. Lutfar Rahman

Prof. Dr. Md. Lutfar Rahman is a renowned physician and healthcare administrator with more than four decades of experience in hospital management, quality assurance, and accreditation. His professional journey reflects a lifelong commitment to advancing healthcare systems in Bangladesh and beyond.  

He has held senior leadership roles in government, private, NGO, and international organizations, providing direction from policy to operational levels. Notably, he served as Project Director of Ahsania Mission Cancer and General Hospital and Executive Director of Bangladesh Institute of Health Sciences Hospital. He also worked as advisor to BMU, BMCH, and JIMCH.  

Internationally, Dr. Rahman has collaborated with the World Health Organization (WHO) on programs related to quality assurance and hospital management. His contributions include evaluating hospital structures and implementing service improvements within existing resources. These engagements enriched his global perspective on healthcare challenges and solutions.  

His core expertise spans hospital operations, strategic planning, financial management, and service optimization. In quality assurance, he has championed initiatives to strengthen patient safety and satisfaction, while in accreditation, he has guided multiple institutions in achieving international standards.  

Beyond administration, Dr. Rahman is equally engaged in teaching and research. He has supervised Ph.D. candidates, taught MBA and MPH students, and authored the internationally published book Hospital Management-The Future in Asia. He also contributed to MASS by providing standards for designing Samajik Hospital, Medical College, Nursing College, and Samajik Research Center.  

Currently, as Chief Medical Planner at SHSIRC, Dr. Rahman continues to pursue his passion for building sustainable and quality-driven healthcare systems.
