Professor Muhammad Ibrahim, born on 1st December 1945. Professor Muhammad Ibrahim is currently Professor of Science Communication and Engagement at the Department of General Education (GED), University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB), where he has served since 2013, including as Head of Department.

Previously, he was Professor of Physics at the University of Dhaka (1967–2012), where he also served as Department Chair, Director of the Renewable Energy Centre, and Senate Member.

He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Southampton, UK (1972), and completed his MSc and BSc (Hons) in Physics at the University of Dhaka (1965, 1966). He pursued post-doctoral research at Uppsala University, Sweden (1977–78).

His areas of expertise include Surface and Solid State Physics, Solar Photovoltaics, Renewable Energy, Appropriate Technology, Sustainable Development, Education, Gender, and Science Communication. He has authored 25 journal papers, 40 books, and over 200 articles.

Prof. Ibrahim is Founder and Editor of Biggan Samoeeki (1960–present), a pioneering Bangla science periodical. He also founded and chairs the Centre for Mass Education in Science (CMES), a leading national NGO (1978–present). He served as Chair of the Federation of NGOs in Bangladesh (2008–2016) and President of the Bangladesh Solar Energy Society (2009–2018). He is a Schwab Foundation Social Entrepreneur (World Economic Forum, 2001–present).

His accolades include the Prix Caritas Switzerland Award (2009) and the Bangla Academy Literature Prize and Fellowship.
